Alex on guitar and Aasia doing performance art. Talent runs in the family!

Miles has a wonderful new nanny. My girlfriend Wendy, highly recommended Vicky, a young mother of 3. Miles just loves her! One of the requirements was that our nanny speaks Spanish to Miles, cooks, cleans and is a pleasant person. We hit the jackpot!

When I was in college I was a short order breakfast cook. I did everything from waffles to eggs benedict. I tested my pancake recipe on Miles, and he seems to approve. Gobbled up three mini pancakes with no complaints.

We have one room completely baby proofed and when I am cooking for him I will let him play there with all of his toys. He is usually singing or babbling so I feel pretty good that he is not hurting himself when I can hear him, it’s when he is quiet I start to worry. Well, I went to get him for his lunch and this is what a saw!biten book

When mom is busy in the kitchen, Miles can feel like part of the action while in the bouncer. He shows off some musical skills also.

Miles loves our naughty cat. Izzy is a loving, beautiful little beast but she can bite and scratch which is exactly what she did to Miles. I always watch her but I put Miles and Izzy in the room together alone for a minute and Miles crawled away with a bloody scratch on his face. He didn’t even cry! I couldn’t discipline her because I didn’t see her in the act of it but later in the day I put them together again and she lounged at him. I smacked her nose and put her in the garage.. BAD CAT! He still loves her!!!

One of Miles Godfather’s (lucky boy, he has two) visited last week and he gave Miles a Laser Stars Indoor Light Show
which projects thousands of stars with cloud formations. Miles would look up at the stars and then he would get off balance and fall. He finally figured out he needed to hold on to something to gaze at the stars, then he started howling at them. Crazy cute!

Miles is roaming all over the place at a very fast speed! If you turn your head for a second you will only see a little bottom crawling away from you! This is such a fun stage right now. He giggles all the time, he is curious about everything he sees and he is incredibly loving. He gives big mommy hugs which of course, I love!

Yesterday was Cecilia’s last day, she is going to be working for another family. We only need her to take care of Miles for a couple of days a week and she needs more of a full time gig. We are sad to see her go because she is so wonderful with our little munchkin. Thanks CC we will miss you!

The answer is definitely YES for pregnant women to get a flu vaccine this season.   The flu shot is your best protection against serious illness as a result of the flu.  The flu is more likely to cause serious illness in pregnancy compared to those women who are not pregnant.  In pregnancy there are changes in the immune system, heart and lung function that make pregnant women more prone to severe illness from the flu which can lead to hospitalization or even death.  Other problems as a result of the flu include dehydration, miscarriage and preterm labor.  A flu shot can protect pregnant women, their unborn babies and even the baby after birth.  When given in pregnancy, the flu shot has been shown to protect both the mother and her baby, up to 6 months old from the flu.  The flu shot is safe during pregnancy and can be given at any time.   The nasal spray vaccine should not be given to women who are pregnant.

The flu virus is thought to spread easily person to person through coughing, sneezing, or talking to someone in close proximity that has the flu.  Other forms of viral transmission is when people touch something with the flu virus on it then touch their mouth, eyes or nose.  People infected with the flu may be able to infect others as early as Day 1 before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick.

Everyday preventative behavior can help slow the spread of the flu virus include:

  1. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  2. Wash your hands often with soap and water and if soap and water are not available use an alcohol-based hand rub.
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  4. Avoid close contact with sick people.
  5. If you or your child gets sick with the flu, limit contact with others as much as possible to help prevent spreading illness.  Stay home (or keep your child home) for at least 24 hours after fever is gone except to seek medical care or for the necessities.

40 weeks old and our little one has a touch of separation anxiety. He has been a very social baby but one day he woke up and just wanted Mama. I had read that babies will have a fear of strangers when they hit 9 months but I thought he would skate past that because he was so open to people but it turns out that Miles is a text book baby. He’s not particularly fearful of strangers he just wants me all the time, which is very sweet but it doesn’t give me very much time to go to the bathroom!  :)

Miles is growing up so fast, I want it to slow down!!! He is entering his 9th month on this planet. He is crawling all over the house, standing, rambling, singing, eating solid foods, sleeping 12 hours ( I know, we are really lucky) and is simply adorable. We are so blessed that he is such a good and healthy baby.

Mama is pretty rested, skinny (not really toned yet) and so happy. I keep pinching myself, is this my life now. It is!

Papa is working on 3 films (when it rains it pours) and loves his son more and more each day.

Now to plan the wedding! :)

While visiting my parents in the blue ridge mountains of Georgia, Miles met a lot of his cousins. Miles feel in love with Aasia, my brother’s daughter. As fate has it, they are both Italian and Vietnamese! Go figure!! She was wonderful with him. I am pretty sure when he is older he will have a huge crush on her because he already has one now! HA!!!
